Opening the radio: To open the radio remove the screw under the flap on the centre of the rear of the radio, then prise open the two halves of the radio carefully using a screwdriver. The plastic chassis holding the circuit board can be removed by unscrewing two screws which are at either end end of the battery compartment. The frequency counter/clock board is secured by three screws.
Chipset: This radio contains an 8-pin D2822M and 16-pin CD2003 chip. Both are DIP and there do not appear to be any surface mount components on the main radio PCB. I believe the datasheets are:
